Canine Gastrointestinal (GI) Topography Model

The canine gastrointestinal topographic model has a foundation of a simple image of the abdominal cavity sandwiched between plexiglass sheets. It has a hole drilled at the site of the root of the mesentery. A simple GI tract has been created out of stockinette, rope and sheet plastic. Press’N Seal ® is used as a base layer (sticky side up) and the GI tract applied onto the board in correct anatomic positioning where the root of the mesentery is formed and inserted through the opening. Additional organs are added, and clinical correlations made. This use of an image board as a foundation for anatomic teaching models is utilized across the semester for continuity of concepts and construction.
