Painted Skeleton Model

Image of a plastic dog skeleton painted on the right side to highlight bony prominences and on the left side to illustrate proximal and distal muscular attachments. This is a craniolateral view of the left side.
View of the left front limb of the painted skeleton model, showing muscular attachment points of several intrinsic muscles of the canine forelimb.

These painted skeletons models are based on a store bought canine skeleton base. Joints were articulated with elastic banding and paint applied on the right side to feature bony landmarks and prominences and on the left to feature color coordinated muscular attachments. Left sided colored attachments also commonly have small s hook attachments allowing for the application of rubber banding to simulate muscular contraction between attachment sites.

Various other models have been created to be used in conjunction with these skeletons, such as a synthetic pleural cavity, as is highlighted in the associated video.
